Eastern Channel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eastern Channel is a large body of deep water adjacent to the southern half of Sitka, Alaska.

Sitka, both being a prime cruise ship destination, and having no readily available deep water dock for cruise ships, instead allows ships to anchor in Eastern Channel and lighter the passengers into town.

Unlike most other geographic channels, the Eastern Channel is more of an inlet leading into Silver Bay.

Eastern Channel is also the backdrop for Harrigan Centennial Hall and the Sitka Summer Music Festival.
