Eastern Cape Technikon

Eastern Cape Technikon is a higher education instution in South Africa. It was first established as an engineering campus of the University of Transkei in 1985. It received autonomy in 1994. In the past 10 years, it has become a regional powerhouse of technological education. It has a stable financial position and a staff of over 400. In 2004, almost 9000 students registered at its four campuses, a large growth from previous years that is hoped to continue. The school uses participative management and stakeholder forums have contributed to solid progress of the ECT. The technikon is now part of Walter Sisulu University for Technology and Science.
