The Eastern Busway is a proposal for a busway connection between Buranda and Capalaba via Carindale in eastern Brisbane.
The Eastern Busway would provide faster, more frequent and more reliable bus services to the eastern suburbs, where public transport currently gets caught in congestion. The Eastern Busway would also provide emergency vehicles with a congestion free connection to the PA Hospital.

[edit] Proposed route
The proposed alignment broadly follows Old Cleveland Road.
There was major controversy over a conceptual route (Option A) north of this alignment between Coorparoo and Stones Corner and its impacts on the local area. This route has since been dropped in response to community feedback.
Presently, the Eastern Busway would connect to the existing South-East Busway, with connections to the Northern Busway, Boggo Road Busway and the Citytrain network at Buranda Station.
Potential stations have been identified in the most recent newsletter at the following sites:
- Stones Corner
- Langlands Park
- Coorparoo Junction
- Bridgewater Creek
- Camp Hill
- Carina
- Carindale
- Belmont
- Chandler
- Capalaba West
- Capalaba
TransLink has stated that sections of busway and stations can be built in stages, as demand dictates. This means that they can be built out of phase, as was the case with the Inner-Northern Busway.
[edit] Community concerns
There have been community fears that this alignment, if it goes ahead, would lead to compulsory acquisitions of property, destruction of parks, playgrounds, bike paths and disturbance and pollution of Norman Creek, which feeds the Brisbane River. An electronic petition has been started against this proposal. [1]. Communities Advocating Transport Corridor Harmony (CATCH) is a lobby group opposed to the plan and is in favour of alternate measures such as providing bus priority measures on Old Cleveland Road.
