East Lynn Lake is a 1,005-acre (4 km²) reservoir on the East Fork of Twelvepole Creek in Wayne County, West Virginia. The lake was approved by congress in 1938 after the devastating flood of 1937 but was not constructed until 1970 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the purposes of flood control, recreation, and fish and wildlife management. Its name was officially designated by Congress in 1971. Construction of the lake resulted in the destruction of the town of Stiltner, West Virginia at the mouth of Brush Creek. The town was home to approximately 200 residents at its height.
