East Jutland metropolitan area

East Jutland metropolitan area (Byregion Østjylland), The Danish state has declared that Denmark now has 2 city areas with more than 1 million inhabitants, that is the official status according to environment minister Troels Lund Poulsen ([1]). Now the first meetings between the cities and the Danish state has begun to find a broad corporation and a common identity. Now the area has to decide how it can grow to one metropolis to rival the Copenhagen area. Many of the cities has not yet grown together and they probably never will because the Danish state will protect the green areas between the cities.
Almost 25% of the Danish population lives in East jutland metropolitan area whit 1,2 million on 10,000km², and 33% lives in the Copenhagen metropolitan area on only 3,000km², the rest of the Danish population of 2,4 million lives on the rest of Denmarks 30,000km².
The 17 municipalities below has been invited by the Danish state to begin a corporation. East Jutland is by far the area in Denmark with the fastest growing population about 10.000 per year. From 2007 to 2008 the population increased whit 10.400.
the area of 10,000km² is a very big area in size, but it is more or less the same size as Greater Oslo Region (8.900 km²) and small compared to some other metropolitan areas as Hamburg Metropolitan Region (19.000 km²) and outside Europe some metropolitan areas is much larger as Greater Los Angeles Area (87.940 km²) and the Phoenix metropolitan area (37,744 km²).

The area has several Motorways but the European route E45 is the Motorway that goes from the south to the north and is more or less responsible for the growth in the area and it is along this Motorway that the East Jutland metropolitan area is growing out from.

Football is the most popular spectator sport in Denmark and East Jutland metropolitan area has 4 teams in the Danish football championship the Danish Superliga, There is 12 clubs in the league in all.
