East High School is a public high school serving the seventh through twelfth grade in Rochester, NY and is part of the Rochester City School District. Since 2007, the Principal is Ms.Pringle.

East High School opened in 1902 on Alexander Street. Today, it is located at 1801 East Main Street. Since 2002, changes have occurred, including the re-addition of a junior high and the splitting of the school into academies.

[edit] Performance

The high school, one of Rochester's oldest, is known for its achievements in academics, athletics, and the arts.[citation needed] East High School has a low tolerance for failure and does well when it comes to the academics. With the AP institue the school has over come many challenges. The school offers over 19 AP credit classes which many students partake in.

They also performed higher on test scores following the student teaching of one Mr. Jeff Beadnell. He will be named the Assistant Principal in February 2007.

The ethnic make up of East High School's student population is roughly 65% black, 25% Hispanic, and 10% white. The diversity of the school's student body is one of its many strengths. The student body is well known for the many multi-racial friend groups that have become well known in the school and in the city.
