East Cobb

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

East Cobb refers to the section of Cobb County, Georgia that is roughly bounded by Cherokee County and the City of Mountain Park to the north, Fulton County and the Chattahoochee River to the East, Bells Ferry Road, I-575, and the Marietta city limits to the west, and Interstate 285 and the Chattahoochee River to the south.

The area is known for its large houses and wealthy residents, who are often referred to as "East Cobb Snobs"[1]. East Cobb consists primarily of unincorporated Marietta, but a significant chunk of unincorporated Roswell also falls within its bounds. A small sliver of unincorporated Atlanta is in the extreme southern portion of East Cobb, and a portion of the northwest is in unincorporated Kennesaw. No part of East Cobb technically falls within incorporated city limits. Several high school districts comprise the area known as East Cobb: Sprayberry High School, Wheeler High School, Kell High School, Walton High School, Pope High School, and Lassiter High School. The extreme western portion of the Sprayberrh High School lies outside of East Cobb (the Town Center Mall area). The western half of the Kell district also lies outside of East Cobb. The extreme southwestern part of the Wheeler district lies on the west side of Interstate 75, thus excluding the area from officially being a part of East Cobb. Many people mistakenly believe that Walton, Pope, and Lassiter are the only East Cobb high schools.

East Cobb contains two mountains - Sweat Mountain and Blackjack Mountain.

Here are the middle school districts that comprise the area known as East Cobb: Daniell, McCleskey, Simpson, Hightower Trail, Mabry, East Cobb, Dodgen, and Dickerson (small portions of the Daniell and East Cobb Middle School districts lie outside of East Cobb; a sliver of the eastern portion of the Palmer Middle School district can be considered a part of East Cobb).
