East Chester Elementary School is one of two public elementary schools in Henderson, Tennessee and one of three within the Chester County school district. It serves kindergarten through third grade. There is also a preschool program available for developmentally challenged children. It feeds Chester County Middle School, which serves grades four through six.
[edit] History
East Chester originally served grades 1 through 8, but eventually grades 7 and 8 were relocated to Chester County Junior High School when it was built.
Later on, sixth grade was moved into North Chester, which was previously a school for African-American children.
In 1997, grades 4 and 5 were moved to the newly established Chester County Middle School, which previously housed Chester County High School.
