East Anglia Medieval Fayre

The East Anglia Medieval Fayre is an annual British medieval reenactment event originally staged near Bury St Edmunds, East Anglia, which is moving to new venue, Cressing Temple, near Braintree in Essex (www.cressingtemple.org.uk) for 2008, when it will run over the weekend of September 13th & 14th.

The East Anglia Medieval Fayre was held for the first time in July, 2005, and deemed successful enough to make it a regular event.

The event lasts a single weekend and for 2008 features many leading medieval re-enactment groups, including The Order of Fighting Knights, Tournee, The Swords of Chivalry, Great Northwood Bowmen and Horses through History. A packed programme of events leads up to the grand finale, which will be a Joust and Melee re-creating the famous Ivanhoe Tournament, run by John Tremelling of Horses through History. Other displays include Falconry, Dance, Archery, a Sword Tourney A Plaisance (i.e. not to the death!)Story Telling, and Juggling. There will be Living History encampments to explore, a Medieval Market plus quality food and traditional ales and beers.

In the 2005 event the German medieval rock band Schelmish performed between the scheduled shows.
