East-Central Minnesota Pride
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
East-Central Minnesota Pride is the yearly celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) residents of East-Central Minnesota. It is just one of two prides held in a rural community in the U.S.[1] The celebration is generally held during the first weekend in June in Pine City, Minnesota.
[edit] History
East Central Mens Circle, the organizing group, held their first Pride event in 2005, and following events were opened up to all members of the LGBT community. In 2007, it sparked controversy when an opposition picnic dubbed a "pro-family picnic" was held across town.[1]
