Talk:Early life of George W. Bush

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"It has been frequently alleged that Bush skipped over a waiting list to receive a National Guard slot"

um, he did skip over a waiting list to receive a national guard slot, even the GOP/FOX talking heads have never disputed this part, just the stuff that comes after it--205.188.117.74 17:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

According to the records released by DoD, the 147th Fighter-Interceptor Group of the Texas Air National Guard was consistently short of pilots. There was no waiting list. Gatr 16:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cheerleading

Wasn't he also a cheerleader at Yale? I think if that's true it is probably around as relevant as his being on the rugby union team. Jeremy Peter Green 16:11, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removing "Bush had knocked up a girl" section

I'm removing the scurrilous "Bush had knocked up a girl" section. It's an embarrassment to Wikipedia, citing as its source NNDB quoting Larry Flint(sic) quoting "a lawyer in Houson" quoting his client "Susan" quoting her boyfriend "Clyde" as having been pals with Bush and setting up an abortion for one "Rayette". I think Wikipedia requires better sourcing than this!

The section was added August 12, 2006 under color of "grammatical and detail correction", but I guess its content was somehow overlooked by the regulars who keep an eye out for such things. It is still in place six weeks later, available as a trusted source to any child doing a history paper. --CliffC 13:55, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Locking down

When George W. Bush's articles got too long, it was a wise idea to split the materials up onto new pages. However it leaves them open to vandalism on these daughter pages. Would anyone concur to agree with locking down the page with sprotect2 like it is used on the main page? ViriiK 07:43, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello

Hi

[edit] Ridiculous Vandalism

I am removing all of the stupid things that people have written on this. A family of 99? Marrying a man named Smit Johnson? Being 1' 5"? This was clearly written by a Bush-Basher and I am going to remove it to make this article more reliable. He's the leader of your country, geeze. Show some respect.

It has nothing to do with showing respect. The goal is accuracy, and the failure of the aforementioned text to meet that qualification was grounds enough for its removal. The purpose of editing is to ensure complete accuracy and credability, not to ensure that everyone is respected. Hence Wikipedia's policy of "Neutral Point of View." Neither Bush-bashers nor Bush-supporters should be allowed to spew their opinions into a public encylcopedia.

[edit] SAT score

In case aanyone wants to add this to the article - Bush's SAT score was 1206. I'm not going to put it there myself. The source is a book called "1600 Perfect Score" by Tom Fishgrund. -- CBhadha, August 3, 2007

[edit] Page protection proposed

This article seems to be a magnet for vandalism from anon users. Therefore, I'm requesting that it be semi-protected. Alcarillo (talk) 02:47, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
