Earthpark

Earthpark is an indoor rain forest and aquarium. It will be located around Lake Red Rock, near the town of Pella, Iowa. Earthpark is scheduled for completion in 2010.[1] A similar project exists in Cornwall, England called The Eden Project.

The total project cost for the Earthpark is estimated to be $155 million USD. The complex is planned to be 3.5 acres in area with a 600,000 gallon aquarium and outdoor wetland and prairie exhibits.[1]

The Earthpark project is expected to employ 150 people directly and create an additional 2000 indirect jobs. The economic impact is estimated to be $130 million USD annually. The park is projected to draw 1 million visitors annually to the Pella area.[1][2]
The project is being built in conjunction with The Point at Lake Red Rock, a new residential and commercial development that is planned to include condominiums, a marina, an office park, retail locations, a hotel/waterpark, and a restaurant area.[2]
