Earlville is a city in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,778 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Ottawa–Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area.

(41.588552, -88.922356).According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.0 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,778 people, 678 households, and 484 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,527.4 people per square mile (591.8/km²). There were 708 housing units at an average density of 608.2/sq mi (235.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.64% White, 0.06% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.45% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.02% of the population.
There were 678 households out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.3% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% were non-families. 25.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the city the population was spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $39,286, and the median income for a family was $47,535. Males had a median income of $35,938 versus $23,295 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,722. About 4.7% of families and 7.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.3% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those age 65 or over.
Earlville has a modern library, a K-12 school system which has bad opinions from the public, a bank, a medical clinic, a weekly newspaper, and a number of local businesses. It is surrounded by farms which have excellent soil and crop yields.
Many of the inhabitants of Earlville work at blue-collar jobs. Caterpillar, Inc. of Montgomery, Illinois is a major employer. Some families from Chicago and suburbs who are seeking the isolation and serenity that a small town offers have been moving to Earlville, giving the town a stimulus for growth and new ideas. Earlville is also home of the Rt. 34 Drive In movie theater.[citation needed]
