Ear pull
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ear pull is a traditional Inuit game designed to test competitors' ability to endure pain.[1] In the game, competitors sit facing each other on the floor, and a loop of twine is strung around one ear of each competitor.[1] The competitors lean back until the loop of string comes free from the ear of one competitor, who is then deemed to have lost.[1] The game has been omitted from some Arctic sports competitions due to safety concerns and the squeamishness of spectators;[2][3] the event can cause bleeding and competitors sometimes require stitches.[1]
