From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category is for artists who produced Early Netherlandish painting, which is the term used by art historians for art produced in what is now the Netherlands (where the Dutch people live) and Belgium, in the late Middle Ages and Early Renaissance. Art from the southern part of the region is also known as Flemish, but as applied to a period of art this is now used by art historians for art between about 1560 and 1800. See also Romanism (painting) for an intermediate style.
