Eagle Island (Penobscot Bay, Maine)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eagle Island is a 263 acre island in Penobscot Bay, Maine Northeast of Vinalhaven. Eagle Island was conveyed to Samuel Quin on November 18, 1844 from John C. Gray with the exception of the Lighthouse Lot, which was previously deeded to the United States Government by John Gray on December 1, 1837. In addition Samuel Quin bought one-half of Fling Island and "all Farming Tools, hay and neat stock and sheep belonging to said John C. Gray on said Eagle Island." for $1500. Eagle Island is referred to by deed as the "same on which said Quin now lives." Descendants of Samuel Quin still own a majority of Eagle Island and continue to reside there.
