EAFE Stock Index

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The EAFE Stock Index tracks the Europe, Australasia, and Far East (EAFE) stock index. The EAFE stock index is strongly tracked by the "I Fund" - one of the funds available to participants in the U.S. Government's Thrift Savings Plan. The EAFE Free Index is actually a trademark and service mark of Morgan Stanley Capital International, Inc. (MSCI).

[edit] Components

The EAFE Index is primarily composed of and intended to track Europe, Australasia and far East securities. Around 20,000 securities from over 20 countries are tracked. The index is also market value weighted, which means stocks in the index affect the overall index in proportion to their individual market value. (Other stock indexes do this as well; for example, the NASDAQ Composite.) See MSCI EAFE.
