英国人エドモンド・モレルは明治3年3月傭聘せられ建築師長として新橋横浜間及大阪神戸間の事業を主宰し其功績は第2章第5節に詳説するが如し、4年9月病を以て東京に歿せり
Engineer-in-Chief Morell
Edmund Morell, a British, was invited to employ in the 3rd month of Meiji 3 (March 1870). He worked as the Enginner-in-Chief for the construction of Shimbashi - Yokohama and Osaka - Kobe railways, his contributions were as detailed in Chapter 2 Section 5. He passed away on 24th of 9th month of Meiji 4 (6 November 1871) by a lung disease in Tokyo.
