[edit] Administration
The school is headed by a Principal and a Vice Principal. There is a Parent Council and a Student Council, the latter being elected by the students of the school.
[edit] School Day
The school day starts at 8:10 AM Local Time and ends at 2:45. There are six periods (classes) each day, each being fifty minutes long. There are also two "Nutrition Breaks" where students spend a portion of the time indoors eating and if weather permits a portion outdoors playing. When bad weather occurs students play indoors.
[edit] Subjects
The subjects that are taught are usually English Language Arts, French Language Arts, Science, Math, Art, Gym and Music. Also, the Grade 6 students learn Social Studies and the Grade 7 and 8 students learn History and Geography. The Core French students only learn the French Language Arts in French, while other classes are taught in French to the French Immersion classes. Each subject can take up as few as two periods a week, while others take up as many as five.
[edit] Holidays
On all "official" holidays there are no classes. There are no classes in a small portion of June, all of July and August and a small portion of September. There is also a Christmas Break, and a March Break.
[edit] Classes
There are three grades and each is usually divided up into six or seven classes. There are usually four or five Core French (Regular) classes with everything in English except for French Language Arts and Two French Immersion classes per grade. Classes are referred to in a "number code" such as 6-2 the 6 meaning the grade and the 2 indicating the class within that grade or 8-1FI, the FI indicating that it is a French Immersion class.
[edit] Sports and teams
E.J James has a wide variety of sports, teams, and clubs. Sports include volleyball, soccer, basketball, cricket, and water polo. Clubs include those for drama, chess, art and yearbook.
