E.C. Dahls Brewery is a Norwegian brewery founded in Trondheim in 1856 by the colorful business man Erich Christian Dahl, a local in Trondheim. A few years earlier he had bought 'Sukkerhuset', which means the sugarhouse, in Kalvskinnet, where there had been a sugar refinery since 1754. 'Sukkerhuset' was rebuilt for brewing, and the first bottle with bayerbeer was sold in 1857. Bayerbeer was the most important sort of beer until the early 20th century when the lager took over as the most popular beer. The brewery is onwed by Ringnes, part of the Carlsberg Group.
