A total of 132 vehicles formed as 22 6-car sets are due to be introduced over a period of two years from autumn 2009 on the Narita Express limited express services to and from Narita International Airport. They will replace the 253 series EMUs currently used on these services.
Each six-car set will consist of four motored cars and two trailers. Electrical and safety equipment will be duplicated, as on the E233 series commuter trains, to improve safety and reliability.
The colour scheme will be silver with red and black accents.[1]
