[edit] Guineafowl

Hi, and welcome.

Thanks for tidying the refs/extlinks on guineafowl. Please note, however, that species lists are in taxonomic order to show relations, and should not be alphabeticised. I've changed the heading to make it clear that the order isn't random. thanks, jimfbleak 15:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem, happens all the time - I set up most of the species' lists, and should have anticipated this frequent occurence. Anything I can do to help, let me know, I have info on all the guineafowl species, not just Helmeted, jimfbleak 15:30, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

If subspecies are mentioned at all, it tends to be on the species page. Few subspecies are so distinctive as to merit their own page, and some species with large ranges, such as Peregrine Falcon have many ssp. Many bird pages don't mention ssp because there is no readily available source detailing them, or give only partial information relating to just part of the range (my source for Costa Rica rarely mentions ssp at all unless two forms occur in that country.
There are only a few ssp that have there own page - even Red Grouse only redirects. jimfbleak 14:32, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

OK, I can’t say that I’m an expert on guineafowl, but I’ve tried to remove the more POV parts of Bigbigbird’s edits and opinions such as book reviews. I don’t know how valid the links are, so I’ve left them. I don’t think the cookery picture really fits, but I’ve left it for now. There have been too many edit wars on these pages. If necessary, I’ll make them as neutral as I can, and then protect the page, but I hope that common sense will prevail, and that there will be dicussion before either of you make swingeing edits. jimfbleak 06:55, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Just wanted to say thank you, E-boy, for correcting the continued vandalism to the GFIA link URL. I can't prove who's responsible, but I am very sure who is behind it. Strange how some people don't have enough faith in their own organization to withstand a little competition. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens again. To avoid further problems, I would have suggested that links to ALL guinea fowl organizations be removed from the page, but I realize that would only be a temporary fix. No doubt the troublemaker would add his organization's URL to the Links section again. Hopefully, we'll be able to revert any future tampering as soon as it happens.Birdsarecool 19:13, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] White-breasted Guineafowl

Hi E-boy, thanks for the update. Sorry for the extra work caused. I have image of Vulturine Guineafowl specimen from American Museum of Natural History (taken by me), if you want I can put it on commons. But I think the image on the article page is much better than mine. Let me know, if you still interested & good luck with your quest :). --Stavenn 17:33, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of Parsers

Thanks for your help on the article. I left a message in the talk page about the issue you brought up. Have a great day. --DevinCook 20:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

The "new" guineafowl has been deleted from the list twice by me and once by Rabo at least. It's an unsourced, unverifiable addition from an anon, so it should continue to be deleted unless the anon can justify it. Jimfbleak (talk) 06:50, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
