"Eöl the Dark Elf was one of the Sindarin"

In Quendi and Eldar he was stated to be an Avar of Tatarin (proto-Noldorin) descent. Was he told to be a Sinda in the canon works, or is it a speculation? Ausir 20:37, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
I've just rewritten the article. We must have been thinking of the same thing. — Jor (Darkelf) 20:39, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
We often do - I often come into edit conflicts with you :) Ausir 20:41, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)

In The Silmarillion, chapter XVI "Maeglin", Eol is a Teler: "Eöl wasn't a Dwarf, but an Elf of the Teleri"; and again when he arrives in Gondolin (here he is told "Sindar"). Sorry if I don't quote exactly, but I have The Silmarillion only in italian... :) Bye --213.156.52.109 13:31, 5 May 2007 (UTC) alias Gwenaeth

Please see the rewritten Middle-earth canon, inconsistency within the canon vis-á-vis Eöl, is now expressed in the Eöl article. Tttom1 15:06, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MAKE UP YOU FRIGGIN MIND!!!!!!!!!!!

He's either Sindarin or Nandor+Teleri MAKE UP YOU BLOODY MIND!!!!!!! DUH! *pulls out hair* —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.187.77.118 (talk) 11:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

He's Sindarin through his fealty to Thingol. He was thought to be Teleri because he was an Avarin elf that migrated into Beleriand after the Great March and most Avari are Teler. However, late writings by Tolkien indicate that the earliest division of Elves was determinant and he was an Avarin Tatyar, from which clan come the nearly all Noldor and of which half were Avari. This may, however, constitute Original Research on my part (forbidden by wikiguidlines)...Carcharoth?Tttom1 01:00, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
