[edit] Enlaces en español

Hola amigo,

Suerte, -- Viajero 12:09, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Departments of Peru

Hello, just wanted to let you know that Peru is not divided into departments anymore. Today, the country is composed of 25 regions, so please update this information if you have used it in any article. Thanks! --Tuomas hello 02:28, Feb 18, 2005 (UTC)

Please add more information to the last two articles you created. Articles that have images only are at risk for speedy deletion. Academic Challenger 08:31, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Answering your question about Saint Mark

Greetings fellow wikipedian

  • I am very glad to attend your question about National University of Saint Mark stadium.
  • According to official numbers, the maximun capacity it is 67,469 for the number of seats and people there. Currently it is a project about a further expansion of the universitarian statium, however the rector or authorities were not made an accord on that.
  • If the expansion is aproved a total of 104 000 people could be added.
  • Due to security reasons usually the stadium operates as 43 000 max. capacity.

Feel free to ask, and my apologice about delay in response due to signing in to next academic year level in my faculty. HappyApple 03:50, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fotos

Hola!

Hello! Well, I didn't trawl the Web for info about vicuñas, but when I was in Peru I asked a lot of questions about them. I took a tour out of Arequipa to Colca Canyon and part of the tour included vicuña-spotting. The guide definitely said that this animal was not domesticable and that all attempts to domesticate it had failed. They look for them in the wild, encircle them, and "trap" them in order to shear them. In some cases poachers just go out and kill them, because the very fair hair (it's hair, not wool) is so very valuable. This is why they are endangered - because you can't raise them in a corral like you can alpacas and llamas, so they must live in the wild. My limited knowledge causes me to think they are quite different from alpacas and llamas and my hunch is that they are not a hybrid but rather a separate species. If the Incas succeeded in domesticating them, that's another question, although I'd be surprised if the people had forgotten how to raise them over time. I think the photo caption just needs a tiny change - the Incas exploited them rather than domesticated them, or something like that. Anyway your first site that you gave me clearly says that the vicuña and the guanaco only exist in the wild. Does this help? Mona-Lynn 10:41, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

YES, you can write me a message on my talk page in order to coordinate our efforts to expand the peruvian-related topics on Wikipedia. As long as we respect each other and always willing to achieve compromise, It is ok. Happy Editing !! Messhermit 20:45, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Right now, I-m working to preserve the integrity of each Peruvian President, especially the ones that are still controvertial. Adding Pictures and preventing them from being vandalised, is my main objective.

By the way, In any page that you call me, please avoid that User:Viajero is there. Let's say that he has a totaly different vision of Peruvian Politics than me. Anyways, Keep in touch. Messhermit 20:45, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Garcí Manuel del Carbajal

May I ask why you marked Garcí Manuel del Carbajal for Speedy deletion? That looks like a wonderful article that you obviously spent much time on. SWAdair | Talk 11:49, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Nevermind. After I saw the next one on the list (an alternate spelling), I checked your list of contributions and found Manuel Garcia de Carbajal. Now I understand. SWAdair | Talk 11:54, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Greetings! I've made the other spellings into redirects to the page where the article is now instead of deleting them, since it looks like they've all been merged together. This way if anyone searches on one of those spellings, they will be taken to the article they want. It also lets people look at the page history on the pages they came from. Nice work on the article, by the way! Mindspillage (spill yours?) 22:58, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] War review?

You posted a request for peer review of a couple of your articles based on my previous work on war articles. Could you point me to these? I know nothing about wars nor any articles I worked on... Stellertony the Bookcrosser 05:28, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Arequipa Cathedral

Hello! I saw the recent change you did to Arequipa Cathedral. I was looking around the web and some call it "Cathedral San Francisco de Arequipa." While others simply call it cathedral. Do you think we should change the name in the article? I think it would be tter to call the catedral by its name instead of just "cathedral." Sonesta Posada del Inca, a hotel just next to the Main Square, calls it "Cathedral San Francisco de Arequipa," and I'm assuming that's the correct name, too. What do you think? --Dynamax 19:52, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • I would call it "San Francisco de Arequipa Cathedral", and also use a redirect from Arequipa Cathedral.--AAAAA 15:27, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Project idea

You seem good at organizing things. Maybe you would you like to get this started: Wikipedia:WikiProject Peru. It could be useful to have a central location to discuss naming issues, list categories, etc. My experience with projects is limited only to this one: Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera, which might give you some idea of what is possible. You might also look at around at some of the other projects for more ideas. Just a suggestion. -- Viajero | Talk 21:30, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ataw Wallpa

Sorry if it was motivation for discussing, but I don't know :en: rules as well as you do because I'm colaborating most frequently in :es:, where i'm administ (bibliotecario), but I've ever note such terrible mistakes as "SUPA inca" instead sapa inka and bealiving that Cápac is the surname of Mank Qhapaq. By the other side, I don't think chosing Encyclopedia.com and Encarta as main references shall be a good idea, because of Peru related articles in both sources are so small and so unclear. Another point: Erlier spaniard romanizations brought several mistakes such as hevaing three or mor spellings for a single man (ie: Topa Ualpa, Tupac Hualpa, Túpac Huallpa for Tupaq Wallpa).

Anyway, when I made those changes I've also written spanish alternative name. --Huhsunqu 05:09, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism?

re: Inca Empire I believe that one should be careful about using this label in cases that are not clear cut - also, I have a vague recollection of the rolling toy thing (if not true, but sometimes believed, this backs my thesis that the vandalism label is inappropriate). BTW, from Toy: "The Inca had a rolling toy even though their adult culture did not employ the wheel." see[1], [2],[3]m( [4] for some non-inca (meso-american) examples. Best wishes, Leonard G. 02:04, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ama qella

I understand the preference for Spanish spellings for terms related to the Incas, since they're more common in English; but when it comes to actual sentences from Quechua it doesn't seem right. If we were (say) quoting a line of Spanish poetry about Peru, surely we wouldn't change "Perú" to "Peru" in the Spanish text just because the English word is Peru. For that matter, if the Spanish orthography is used, it should really be ama sua, not ama suwa!

For what it's worth, Google searches on "ama quella" and "ama qella" are about even, with a slight edge to the latter.

Still, even the Spanish spelling is better than what was there before, which was quite incorrect.Zompist 03:40, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

Precisely because of the Google search is why I did the change. You have a point in the translation part, and perhaps it should be like your saying so as to make it sound better in English. I'm not oppose to this, as long as it seems right to everyone. Thanks for your kind interest. --Dynamax 04:19, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Input for next Wikiproject Collaboration

Seeing as we are almost done with the Andrés Avelino Cáceres collaboration and March is coming up. I'd thought that I should inform you and the other members of WP:Peru that you can add your thoughts on what you think the next project collaboration should be on at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Peru#Collaboration.--Jersey Devil 21:17, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I just thought that you should know that the July collarboration is up at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Peru. You can vote for which ever Peruvian-related article you think needs to be expanded. Voting ends at the beginning of July though.--Jersey Devil 23:16, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Juanita

Hello! I am but a spotty contributor to Wikipedia and it normally is restricted to simple copyediting and the like. I really only write things of substance when I have insomnia! I saw the link you placed on the Inca Empire page and it's perfect to draw people to the Mummy Juanita page. You are doing a great job with the Andean articles. Thanks for the follow up! Oh - and maybe we need to create a page for Ampato or (probably better) link it to Colca Canyon or Arequipa Region? Mona-Lynn 21:58, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ecuadorian-Peruvian war

Hello. I saw your adding the {{disputed}} template to the abovementioned article. Why don't we make an effort to actually improve it? As you can see, it is in urgent need of improvement, and the recent vandal attacks from open proxies do not help it either. Obviously, nobody will really want to work on an article that, no matter what it says, is going to be vandalized and/or is going to have these templates on top of it. I think a good way to start would be to focus on the most obvious: What is disputed, and what can we do to fix it? Regards. Andrés C. 02:38, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:SantaCatalina aqp.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:SantaCatalina aqp.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Cesar vallejo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Arequipa coat of arms.jpg

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Arequipa coat of arms.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
