Dynasty (association)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dynasty is an association founded in 1999 by the three Finnish bands The Rasmus, Killer and Kwan. Killer has since split from the group and are no longer members of Dynasty.

The meaning with Dynasty is to signify allegiance and friendship between the bands and their members. Many members carry tattoos or wear the Dynasty logotype on guitar straps etc. The bands have very often worked together in music. Drummer Aki Hakala from The Rasmus has played in both Killer and Kwan. He also appears in Kwan's music video for Padam. Killer was co-produced and co-managed by Lauri Ylönen and Pauli Rantasalmi from The Rasmus. Rantasalmi has also produced Kwan's song Chillin' at the Grotto.

Killer split up in early 2005, and there were for a while just The Rasmus and Kwan left in Dynasty. The same year, Ylönen and Rantasalmi opened a recording studio in Helsinki, Finland. The record label was named Dynasty Recordings. One year later, the alternative rock bands Von Hertzen Brothers and Happiness signed to Dynasty Recordings.
