Dwight Lodeweges

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dwight Lodeweges (born October 26, 1957 in Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada) was a Dutch footballer and coach.

Lodeweges was born to Dutch parents and they soon moved back to the Netherlands, where he would grow up. He started his footballing career with the Go Ahead Eagles, and was so good that he played for the Dutch U-21 team, however he never played for the senior squad. After 4 years with the Eagles he moved back to Canada to play with the Edmonton Drillers of the NASL.

While playing in Edmonton the Canadian Soccer Association had inquired about him suiting up for the Canadian national team. But since he had already played for the Dutch he was ineligible. After the NASL folded, Lodeweges played for the Minnesota Strikers, an indoor soccer team. He would return to the Eagles in 1988, and played his last game in September 1991. Lodeweges went onto coach several teams in the Netherlands.
