From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bird vetch (vicia cracca) is an aggressive and colorful subalpine species of vine. Its purple-to-pink flowers are impossible to miss, and it blooms profusely from June through August. This relative of the pea is rich in nectar and is very popular with bees and butterflies. Its seed pods, resembling tiny pea pods, are not suitable for consumption because of toxins they contain.
