Dwayne Henry

Dwayne Allen Henry (born February 16, 1962 in Elkton, Maryland) is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher who played for the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1984 after being drafted in the second round of the 1980 amateur draft. His career ended when the Tigers released him on October 12, 1995.

There are many wonderful athletes that climb through the ranks of sandlot baseball to Little League and then on to the local high school team. But it is that select few that possess the physical superiority, gifted skills and passion for the game that earmark them for professional sports.

Dwayne Allen Henry is that athlete. Hailed as "the best player to come out of Middletown High School" in Middletown, DE, which has produced other professional athletes, Mr. Henry still possess those aforementioned qualities that propel him above the average athlete. Drafted right out of high school, Dwayne played for a variety of teams in the Major League Baseball and an international baseball team, the Chunichi Dragons of Japan.

At the age of 45, most men succumb to the physical restrictions Nature surreptitiously, but equitably doles out. These men are satisified with the historical bragging rights of past glories. But Dwayne Henry is yet setting records. In the semi-pro baseball league, Mr. Henry played on the Canada Dry team. Dwayne Henry still brings the heat. Conceding very little ground to the other players in this "young man's game", Dwayne was named "Rookie of the Year". As if that honor was not enough to silence any doubters, Canada Dry won the league championship. Pure champions, like good cream, always rise to the top. Dwayne Allen Henry is yet rising.
