Duxbury High School is known for its fine academic standing.[citation needed] For comparison, the state reports results from its standardised test, the MCAS. In the 2005 MCAS, Duxbury sophomores performed such that 90% of test-takers scored "proficient" or above in the English Language Arts section of the test, compared to just 65% of the test-takers statewide. Likewise, Duxbury earned an 86% proficiency rate, compared to the statewide 62%.[2]
