Aloka Meditation Center is a Buddhist temple in Sydney,Australia, from the Theravada tradition.

The resident priest of Aloka Meditation Center is Bhante Mahinda. He was born in Malaysia. He is a pupil of the late Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda[1].While a layman, he was pursuing his tertiary studies in New Zealand when he met an itinerant Buddhist lay-preacher. He decided to quit his final year university studies to follow the preacher on his world tours. He later returned to Malaysia and was ordained under the Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda. Although he is presently based in Aloka Meditation Center near Sydney, Australia, he makes annual trips to Malaysia to conduct the novitiate program at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields.

Aloka Meditation Center is located in Peats Ridge , New South Wales, Australia. It is about 60 minutes drive away from the centre of Sydney[2]..

Anyone is welcome to visit the monastery. Limited amounts of Laypeople can also stay at the monastery, to practise meditation. One day retreats are held usually once a month. These last from 9.am to 3.pm of the same day[3].Food is provided by the alms-givers and there is no monetary charge whatsoever. Those who wish to stay there need to submit an application available from the Aloka Home Page.
