Duston

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Duston is a village in the borough of Northampton, England in the English county of Northamptonshire. It is located close to Althorp House, family home of Diana, Princess of Wales and the Spencer family. The village is undergoing rapid growth and has been incorporated into the main town of Northampton.

Duston was the location for Northampton's largest post WWII employer - British Timken Company (tapered roller bearing manufacturers). The factory was closed in 2004 and the large site is being redeveloped for housing.

The area is served by the nearby Sixfields site, which includes a cinema and football stadium, as well as many pleasant restaurants and pubs. The Black Leisure Group (owner of Black's and Millets) is based on an industrial estate on Mansard Close.
