Durin (Norse mythology)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Norse mythology, Durin is the name of a dwarf mentioned in Völuspá and repeated in Gylfaginning. He was the second created after the first and foremost dwarf Mótsognir.

In Hervarar saga, Durin also forged the magic sword Tyrfing with the help of Dvalin.

Durin the Deathless is also one of the founding fathers of the Dwarves in Tolkien's Middle-earth.
