The Durham University Dancesport Team is the competitive branch of Durham University's Ballroom and Latin American Dance Society, 'BALADS', one of the largest societies in the university. It is affiliated to both the Durham Students' Union[1] and the Inter Varsity Dancesport Association, and competes in a series of competitions on the University Dancesport Circuit.

The team is relatively young, having been founded by William Lee [8] in 2004. Despite this it has grown rapidly becoming the most successful team in the North of England and is widely recognized as being one of the top teams in the UK.

Currently the team has a growing membership of around 150 that regularly compete on top of around 600 members of BALADS. These are split into 4 levels that train and receive in tuition in both Ballroom and Latin American dancing. In addition the team is planning to expand to incorporate the Offbeat style.

Durham has achieved some major successes in the past few years, With the 2008 Northern Universities Dance Association Competition being their most successful ever[2]. Some of the key achievements are listed below, they are split into those achieved as a team and those by individual team members:
