[edit] Duplicate articles
Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for creating the article, {}. However, I see that you have already created an article {} that contains substantially, or completely, the same body of text. You may not have been aware that Wikipedia offers a feature called redirects, which avoids the need to make any future changes to both articles. Accordingly, I have redirected {} to redirect to {}. You can do this by replacing its text with #REDIRECT [[{}]]. Thanks, and again, welcome to Wikipedia!

Template usage notes
Commonly, a new user will first create an article, and then, concerned that alternative spellings, capitalisations, or such variations would not link to it, will create a new article with the same text. They may, for example, create J. Smith which is otherwise identical to John Smith. This template should be used for notifying users under these circumstances, and the second article redirected to the earlier one. A similar template is Template:Firstredirect, which is instead for notifying users who failed to spot that an article already exists before creating a new one with a similar name.
- The template takes two compulsory parameters, the first of which is should be the article which is to be redirected. The second parameter is the target article.
- Hence, in the given example, the template usage is: J. Smith.
- This template should be substituted and signed – use ~~~~ rather than Article A.
- Please refer to the index of test templates before using any template on user talk pages to warn a user. Applying the best template available for your purpose may help reduce confusion from the message you are sending.
