[edit] Alex Jackson Michaels

I began investigating UFO reports in the Northern California area in April 1957 with the National Investigations Group on Aerial Phenomena (NIGAP), which was directed by the UFO research pioneer Captain Donald T. Menzies, USMC (Ret.). I became acquainted with Dr. James E. Anderson through his contacts with the Los Angeles NIGAP Subcommittee from 1962 to 1970. After NIGAP's demise in 1973, I joined the Friends UFO Network (FUFON) and the then newly-formed Center for UFO Research (CUFOR).

I have researched over 1800 Bay Area reports, including alleged landings, UFO photo cases, close encounters with physical effects on witnesses and terrain, alleged "abduction" reports and other UFO-related phenomena. A prolific writer, I have contributed over 75 articles on various aspects of the UFO question to numerous UFO journals and newsstand magazines. I wrote the book Defending Yourself Against Aliens and co-authored Grand Canyon Contacts with parapsychologist D. Allen Roge. My newest book Icestorm, is a biography of scientist and UFO researcher Dr. James Anderson.
