Duncan Stewart was a fictional character on the Australian television soap opera series Home and Away. The character was played by actor Brendan McKensy.
[edit] Character
Duncan was born to Alf and Ailsa Stewart, not long after they married. Ailsa found it difficult to adjust to being a mother in her 40s and suffered from post-natal depression and tried to smother Duncan at one stage.
Over the years, Duncan was never short of siblings in the form of many local teenagers his parents fostered in the shape of Blake and Karen Dean, Simon Fitzgerald, Sarah Thompson, Curtis Reed, Aaron Welles and Mitch McColl.
Duncan never really got many storylines until the age of 12 where he had an accident on council land and spent a long time in hospita (At the time of the accident Duncan was actually only 9 but H & A swapped actors and SORASed Duncan to 12). Alf decided to sue the council, but eventually relented.
After being released from hospital, Duncan began misbehaving for several years and things only began to go from bad to worse when Ailsa died of a heart attack in 2000.
Duncan's destructive behavior alienated him from Jade Sutherland who he had been dating. In the end, Alf decided to send Duncan to live with Morag Bellingham, his aunt in 2001.
In 2004, Duncan returned to the bay on the night of Robbie Hunter and Hayley Lawson's combined 17th and 21st birthday party and caused trouble by getting drunk and hanging around with Jade. Seb Miller, Duncan's first cousin once removed, who was dating Jade at the time told Jade not to get in a car with Duncan. This ended in a massive accident which ended with Seb being left paralyzed (after jumping on the bonnett to stop them). Fortunately for Duncan, Morag was able to successfully defend him against all charges.
Duncan, after finding it difficult to settle back into Summer Bay High and blackmailing Tasha Andrews over the knowledge of her biological mother, went to live in New York with his half-sister, Roo.
In 2005, Duncan returned to Summer Bay for Alf's 60th birthday party. Duncan was reluctant to approach Donald Fisher, his former uncle by marriage and Seb's grandfather. Eventually, Duncan apologized for all the grief he had caused Seb.
