A NEW ERA IN THE HISTORY OF HOMEOPATHY
THE DISCOVERY OF A NEW, MODERN VARIANT OF THE LAW OF SIMILITUDE
Prof.dr.DUMITRU DOBRESCU, M.D., Pharm.B
Classic Homeopathy
German physician Hahnemann discovered Homeopathy (HP) at the end of the 18th century as a reply at the low level of therapy in that time. From the origin till the beginning of the 21st century it was known as “therapeutic method”. It’s usual definition is: ”therapeutic method which consist to treat one illness with infinitesimal doses of a substance which, in great doses, produces in healthy human troubles similar with those presented by the patient”.
HP has three fundamental pillions: a) Pathogenesy, the toxicological monograph of the substances used in HP; b) Law of similimum, of it’s base, from the toxicological symptoms, on select the therapeutic indications; c) The principle of infinitesimal doses, based on the hormesis phenomenon and on the law of Arndt-Schultz, which expresses the natural properties of the substances to have phased, antagonistic actions, depending on doses. The classic HP was practiced with exquisite success for over 200 years. Through the manner of conception it didn’t feel the need to assimilate the achievements of modern medicine. That is why HP remained at initial phases, with no progress. One put the question if HP will remain further on, at the initial pattern, or it is possible it’s modernization and, in this case, how it will happen.
The new era in the history of HP
I gave an affirmative answer concerning the modernization of HP by writing the book: ”Farmacologie Homeopata”. This is the first book of Homeopathic Pharmacology in science and in the international medical literature.
It represents the opening of a new era in the history of HP. In the book there are presented the features of the new era. 1.The correct definition of HP is:” Science of drug based on the law of similitude and on infinitesimal doses”. 2.In the center of concerns for HP there is the drug which is the reason to be of HP, without it cannot be conceived the existence of HP. 3.The homeopathic drug is a second type of drug existent in therapy, beside the allopathic one. 4.The two types of drugs have both common and specific features. 5.The knowledge on the two types of drugs is studied by the science of drugs, Pharmacology. There is a single Pharmacology with two branches, corresponding to the two types of drugs, allopathic and homeopathic. 6.The knowledge on the drugs is systematized in distinct chapters of Pharmacology, common for the two types of drugs. The chapters are: Pharmacokynetics, Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacotoxicology, Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacography. 7.HP is a science, is synonymous with Homeopathic Pharmacology and includes all the knowledge on the homeopathic drug. The classic tolerance of the term Homeopathy, as “therapeutic method” is wrong. Therapeutic method is synonymous only with a single chapter of HP, it means Homeopathic Pharmacotherapy, or Homeotherapy. 8.The three fundamental pillars of HP are the classic ones. But it is necessary to accept two new concepts, defining the new era of HP. 9.The analysis of “pathogenesy” on the position of Pharmacology shows that all the symptoms are described at the whole organism level. This description was the single possible in the time when Hahnemann discovered HP. Today we know that, without exception these symptoms have their origin at the cellular and molecular level. More over, today there are biochemical and hysto-pathological methods to highlight the alterations at cellular and molecular level. There is peremptorily that HP accept pathogenesies at cellular and molecular level. 10.The same reasoning must be applied and for the law of similitude. HP must accept a second variant of the law of similitude, at cellular and molecular level. 11.With the accepting of pathogenesy and of the law of similitude at cellular and molecular level, conceptions and facts neglected in the classic concept, HP enters indeed in a new era of its history. Its possibilities to enlarge the sphere of extend increases spectacular, and with this its efficiency. With this the contribution of HP to the medical assistance of people became decisive.
Instead of conclusions In my quality as physician practitioner of HP I had about 20.000 consultations and treatments with classic remedies usually finalized with positive results. But, for the treatment of sufferings, where classic remedies haven’t been efficient, I prepared original remedies, applying the law of similitude at cellular and molecular level. For instance, for chronic hepatitis with virus B and C, for hypercholesterolemia, for cataract. In all these treatments the results were positive for about 70% of patients. These results confirm the justice of the law of similitude at cellular and molecular level.
