Dump charging
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dump Charging is a particular method of charging a battery electric vehicles battery pack at higher rates than are possible with standard grid connections and battery chargers. High capacity grid connections such as those commonly found at businesses and industry buildings with high demands can also approach these power levels.
Dump charging normally uses a large stationary or mobile battery pack which can be used to transfer energy at high rates into the vehicles pack. A charger or even a 'well tuned wire' can be used to regulate the power flow. A simple properly tuned wires' resistance can be enough to properly regulate the flow of power from a higher voltage battery into the slightly lower voltage of the vehicles battery.
