Duliajan Located in the upper northeast corner of India.What strikes the first-time visitor to Duliajan is the abundance of 'greenery' all around, blending harmoniously with all and sundry as far as the eye can see.

As of 2001 India census[1], Duliajan No.1 had a population of 5320. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Duliajan No.1 has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81% and, female literacy is 73%. In Duliajan No.1, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It is the headquarters of Oil India Limited, a PSU dealing in oil exploration & Crude oil Transportation through OIL's own pipeline division . The economy of Duliajan is based on Oil and tea industry. It is surrounded by green and lush tea gardens.

Duliajan being a small town the main modes of transport in the town are private vehicles and rickshaws (both cycle and auto).Apart from this OIL provides bus service to its employees working in drilling sites.

A self-sufficient town in itself. Developed but not polluted. The lifestyle in Duliajan is nothing different from the other places in Assam or India the only thing that makes Duliajan stand ahead of other towns is its ability to preserve its culture amidst speedy development. The center of social activity of most of the Oil employees & their families are the two clubs in town. The Duliajan club & the Zaloni club. Both well maintained & equipped to entertain the people.

Schools in Duliajan are run either by the government or Oil India Limited. One of the schools which finds it role in shaping the future of the town is Oil India H S School.Apart from this there are a lot of govt run lower primary,primary and secondary schools. Schools like Delhi Public School(DPS),St. Xaviers and K.V.Duliajan have also contributed a lot in the knowledge upliftment of the young Duliajanites. Duliajan has two degree level colleges namely Duliajan College[1] and Duliajan Girls College.

Air Route : The nearest airport is 48 km away at Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh airport is connected by flights to almost all the major cities of India.

Rail Link : Four (4) major inter-state express trains operate on the rail link close to Duliajan. Three of these trains originate from New Delhi and one from Kolkata. The nearest stoppages are at Tinsukia (30 km) and Dibrugarh town (50 km). An inter-city shuttle plies daily between Dibrugarh and Guwahati(495 km).

By Road : Easily accessible by road by a branch-off(40 km) from the nearest national highway(NH-37), Duliajan is also well connected to the nearest district headquarters of Tinsukia (30 km) and Dibrugarh(50 km).
