[edit] Notability/primary sources tags
In response to the anon Dukie ( :-) ) who wrote in the edit summary "expectations not clear": see WP:NN, in particular "In order to have a verifiable article, a topic must be notable enough that it will be described by multiple independent reliable sources." Generally a topic is considered notable enough for Wikipedia if multiple independent reliable sources have taken note, so to speak, of the topic. In this case, if you can find a publication outside of Duke that has noted, for example, the article's claim that "Cable 13 is the first all student-run television station in the nation", then you will have shown that that claim is both true and noteworthy. If you can't find non-Duke sources to verify that claim or other facts in the article, then the article should probably be deleted. I put the tags there to alert folks that this article may be problematic. Pan Dan 03:07, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Response to edit summary: "Cable 13 is a student organization just like the other ones on Wikipedia." If Wikipedia has articles on other non-notable student organizations, then those should be deleted too. "3 more references added." But none show notability. Being featured in a national or even regional trade publication, for example, would show notability. "Cable13.com is the organization's website -- not self-published, thus a reliable source": Cable13.com is the organization's website, so it is self-published and not reliable. Even if it were reliable, it would not address the notability concerns. Pan Dan 17:20, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Infobox Cleanup and Founding Date
I saw a couple things wrong with your infobox, a couple of which I cannot fix without more details.
First, we need to know if your channel 13 is over-the-air or if it is cable or if it is closed circuit cable.
Second, your affiliation with the Duke U Union is implied in your name and therefore not needed. In addition, the affiliations are reserved for video exchange networks, such CBS Newspath (CBS), OSTN (the Open Student Television Network). An affiliation with your school's paper is not for that spot.
I would also like to call into question your reference to on of the first all student run television stations in the country. I suppose you are fine because the article says 'one of the first' as opposed to 'the first', but note that I have seen a few student-run stations with founding years prior to 1976 and in fact, MUTV was founded that same year. You don't necessarily need to remove it, but I question the research that went into articles that are referenced.Krocheck 18:55, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
