Duke Nukem is a 2D side-scrolling platform-shooter game for the Game Boy Color. It is 2D, like the first two shareware PC games in the series. Due to RAM and cartridge size constrictions of the Game Boy Color it was presented in the series's original 2D form.
Duke Nukem on the Game Boy Color was Torus Games's first handheld game using 3D Realms's Duke Nukem license (the second game being Duke Nukem Advance), the game being sublicensed from the then publisher of Duke Nukem games GT Interactive. The game features 21 levels of play and features eight slots in order to save the player's progress.
