Duke Carlisle

Emmett Augustus “Duke” Carlisle III is a former American football player. The Athens, Texas native played quarterback for the Texas Longhorns from 1961-63, while starting as a senior in 1963. He also played defensive back. Carlisle's record as a UT starter was 30-2-1.
In 1963, Carlisle led Texas to a national championship. He was named Outstanding Back in 1964 Cotton Bowl win vs. Navy, averaging 30.4 yards per completion. Earlier in the season he had a game-saving interception to preserve 7-0 win over Baylor University.
