[edit] Notability
I don't understand what is defined as an non-notable band. They have eight albums, I just started the stub with the intention that other users would pick up the edit. Macca7174 24 Oct (retropectively added user name)
- Also, WP:Music says lack of notability is not a criterion for speedy deletion. Macca7174 24 Oct (retrospectively added user name)

- There is one thing I have taken exception to. I do understand the concerns of the WIkipedia community to prevent people enlisting non-notable bands/biographies etc. I was quite shocked (and initially upset), that within about 5 mins of my saving the stub, it was already up for speedy deletion. So I tagged it with a <hangon> tag. however, the original person wanting to delete has removed the <hangon> tag. Is that allowed?--Macca7174 12:41, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- I realise what happened now, between the Speedy deletion tag, and my hangon tag, another user had downgraded teh Speedy deletion to a prod tag, then he removed the hangon tag to maintain consistency.--Macca7174 14:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Keep - eight albums does seem to make them notable, although I have never heard of them. --Walter Görlitz 20:53, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Just so you know why album count alone is not a definition of notability: I can go in my basement and pump out 8 albums with some fairly unsophisticated equipment and come out the next day and still not be notable as a band per Wikipedia's guidelines. As it is, Dufus tours internationally (something not mentioned for others to adequately judge the band's notability per the guidelines). I'll add this info to the page and recommend at the article's AfD for a keep. Also, just because an article is deleted does not mean that it can't be recreated in a better fashion. But whatever is initially started needs to better adequately meet the WP:BAND guideline for future reference, so that others will have a more accurate article to determine the article's place at Wikipedia. Hope that helps. ju66l3r 21:40, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- If you go into your basement and pump out eight albums, and tour with them, you would have some level of notability. I don't know the band. I don't have any affiliation with them or the author. I am simply stating that notability is two or more albums on a label. This is not defined in the article nor is it indicated that they are basement recordings. However if the band has toured nationally, then they are notable according to the definition, and that isn't defined. I'm giving the author the opportunity to turn this really bad article into a better one. --Walter Görlitz 00:11, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Never mind notability. We rely on that concept far too much. Where's the reliable sources? If they've been written about in multiple reliable sources in a non-trivial fashion it's easy to construct a reliable article and few people would complain. As is, an under-referenced article on a band most people haven't heard of is always gonna be a target for deletion. --kingboyk 13:06, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
