Duffy's Cut

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Duffy's Cut is the name given to a mass grave of 57 Irish-American immigrant railroad workers. It is located in Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA at the intersection of King Road and Sugartown Road. The interred were reported to have died in a cholera epidemic in 1832. The site is currently undergoing archaeological excavation by a team including Immaculata University, led by Dr. William Watson, his brother Rev. Dr. Frank Watson, as well as Pennsylvania state and local governments. Local folklore has it that the souls of these immigrants can still be encountered from time to time. Praeger Publishers published The Ghosts of Duffy's Cut in July, 2006, and a documentary on the story has been produced by Tile Films LTD of Dublin for broadcast on the Smithsonian Channel.
