[edit] General Criticisms(non-germaine to article)
Wikipedia should let everyone edit everything including the article because the bad translation is actually in the American version and not considered stereotypical but for kids in the Japanese version. Kind of like Super Sentai spin offs in the 1990's there are card game spin offs in 2000's.
I and a lot of People who ahve seen the series,at least on RTL2 through satelite,in the Czech republic, critisize this series for the following reasons: 1.Its main charachter bears almost and identical(an unntaural) hair-cut of Yugi Muto in Duel Monsters. 2.The character of Shobu is beleived to be a mix of Yugi Muto form YU-Gi-Oh and Tyson from beyblade. 3.Shobus friend Rikota is almost identical to Kenny from Beyblade.
- Wikipedia does allow you to edit everything in this article! --Squilibob 01:43, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
1.Shobu's hair does not look like Yugi's.You could pick out any anime character with spiky hair and say that.
2.I don't care if it's a mix. So,having some of the same personality traits is ripping off?And it's a bad thing?
3.They do look a little alike. They are also similar in their roles in the show. You got me there(kind of).
Prequel:(ad 1:well,I'll tell you this, take a picture of both Yugi Muto (Atem) and Shobu and blank them to a black siluete) . And Two things: 1:4.I also have a forth complain, about the at points weird and un-expected conversations (a lot of sensless talk, witch is suposed to be funny).
and 2:to "weasel words" Oh yeah?,go to [[1]] and those that can read czech will definitly find this as ABSOLUTELY TRUE! NEW BABYLON

This page is to discuss the article, not complain about anime cliches. By the way people, use the titles, they are your friend. --V2-Gundam 04:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Anyone notice the swears in the info block. Just letting you know
Absolutely none of these criticisms are valid. Deleting.--WingedOutlaw 16:01, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Duelist Guru Analysis
The Analysis is completely unnecesary. This is the anime article, since there is a seperate article for the card game, they have no place here.

[edit] Why they changed the show radically for America
It's not all that hard to imagine why. Just think about it, you're a lead creative of a large american media empire, and you are shown a new franchise fresh in from Japan. It's totally and exactly like Yu-Gi-Oh! - to the point of potentially becoming a plagiarism lawsuit time-bomb -, and to add to your plight, it's badly animated, contains silly and non-funny comedy elements, ugly-as-hell 3d rendered cutscenes, and has a below average, typical cardgame anime storyline. Who would watch it? But hey! Let's spice it up a bit... It's already an unwilling parody of the genre, let's make it into a willing one! Then instead of being plagiarism, it will be parody. Instead of lame, it will be funny... And instead of below average, it will be UNIQUE. With all the silly words in bad Japanese used in the duels, with all the monologues making fun of anime cliches, it will be something totally new. And people will watch it for that.
It seems it did work more-or-less, at least the franchise is still alive.

[edit] Breaking the fourth wall
There are lots of jokes in duel masters that break the fourth wall. They should be mentioned here. Ahmeri18 (talk) 18:00, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kokujo 3 001 5 0001.jpg
Image:Kokujo 3 001 5 0001.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
