Ducks Deluxe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ducks Deluxe were an English pub rock band from the 1970s. Martin Belmont, Nick Garvey, Sean Tyla and Tim Roper formed the band in 1972 (see 1972 in music).
Ducks Deluxe remained a cult band throughout their career, with their first and best LP, Ducks Deluxe, achieving moderate commercial success only after the band broke up in 1975 (see 1975 in music) because the members had gone on to greater fame in Graham Parker & the Rumour, Tyla Gang and the Motors. Tim Roper, original drummer, moved to Norwich, where he became a well known figure in local bands. He died in Feb 2003 from alcohol related symptoms, following a nervous breakdown.
[edit] Reunion
The band reformed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their original formation. This was at the 100 Club in London on October 9, 2007. The line-up was Martin Belmont, Sean Tyla, Mickey Groome and Billy Rankin. A further gig took place on November 9th at The Musician in Leicester. On January 26, 2008 they played Centre Culturel de Paul Baillart, Massy (near Paris) France.
