Duchesne College is located within the University of Queensland's St Lucia Campus, among ten other university residential colleges. Duchesne College was founded in 1937 by the collaboration of the University and the Religious of the Sacred Heart, at the direct wish of His Grace, Archbishop Duhig. The college was initially opened at Stuartholme College in Toowong, until a new collegiate building was constructed at the university in St Lucia in 1959.
Named after Philippine Duchesne, a valiant French woman who was instrumental in bringing the Society of the Sacred Heart to America from France, Duchesne College stands as one of three all-female colleges on the campus. The college accommodates 150 students.
