Born (4.May.1955) in Sibiu Romania, he moves to Bucharest in 1975. His debut at Sibiu Jazz Festival was in 1974.

  • 1979 - 1981 works at Ion Vasilescu Musical Theatre (Bucharest)
  • 1981 - 1984 studio musician, arrager
  • 1984 - 1986 co-leader of Mircea Tiberian - Liviu Butoi Quartet
  • 1986 - 1989 is part of Opus 4 band with Dan Mandrila, Nicolae (Nicolas) Simion, Catalin Rotaru, Billy Bontas, Eugen Nichiteanu
  • 1989 - 1990 the leader of Labirint trio
  • 1990 - 1993 member of Romanian Big Band
  • in 1990 founded the jazz department at [National University of Music Bucharest].
  • in 1998 is co-founder of Interzone Jazz Orchestra
