Dubrovnik Highlands

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dubrovacko Zahumlje (Pronounced in English Dubrovnik Highlands)is the southernmost tip of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Highlands include Neum, Ravno, Capljina, Stolac Municipalities.

It has always had a close connection with the city of Dubrovnik. This is because in the old days, this city was a major sea port for trade and commerce. The valley has served the surrounding area with food for many years.

Today the Dubrovnik Highlands offer holidays for adventurers interested in the "wild western life style." Its rough, rocky, pine forest country offers a unique blend of freedom to explore and enjoy. About 30 minutes by car from Dubrovnik is the famous Hutovo Nature Reserve, a reservoir, with one of the largest number of rare birds in Europe.
