The Dublin Transport Authority (Irish: Údarás Iompair Bhaile Átha Cliath) is a fully-fledged transport authority for Dublin that has been promised by the Irish Government. It is to be known as the Dublin Transport Authority (DTA) and this body will begin it's work on Jan 1st 2009. The DTA will subsume the activities of the current Dublin Transportation Office, Dublin Bus, the Luas tram system, the Rail Procurement Agency (RPA) and parts of the business of Iarnród Éireann - the DART and Commuter train systems [1]. The DTA will take over the ownership of completing the construction of the Dublin Metro from the Rail Procurement Agency (RPA) and the DART Interconnector tunnel from Iarnród Éireann and being responsible for integrating all modes of transport in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

A major re-branding of all these vehicles and transport modes are also due to take place in a yet unknown colour [2].
